Food You Should Start Eating As the Winter Season Rolls In

Winter is here, or just around the corner for some, and that brings some new food. Here are the foods you should start eating as the winter season rolls in.

Winter is a great season for enjoying cozying up under some blankets, having the fire roaring, and generally soaking in the feeling of winter. In addition to getting cozy, winter also brings with it a lot of foods and drinks that you can’t find any other time of year. Read on to learn which foods you should start eating as the winter season rolls in.

Soups and Stews

Winter is the best time of the year for soups and stews because you’re practically sweating as you down the bowl at any other time of the year. These dishes are great for getting in your serving of fresh veggies, and, as previously mentioned, they’ll help keep you warm even when the temperature gets below freezing outside. Part of the reason they’re so delicious is because of the spices you’ll use to make them, such as cumin, ginger, and cinnamon. Additionally, they make great leftovers, and you can make use of seasonal vegetables. Winter is a great time for root vegetables such as butternut squash and pumpkin, and there’s no better way to eat them than in a delicious soup or stew with the whole family!

Don’t Forget the Drinks

In addition to food, there are plenty of late-fall and winter drinks you should consider incorporating into your daily routine. The stereotypical drink of the season is the pumpkin spice latte, and while it does get a lot of flak online, it’s one delicious drink you won’t be able to put down.

Another seasonal drink you should get your hands on is some fresh apple cider. This drink is so warm and rich that you’ll start figuring out how to sneak some into your meals when the season is over. Now, which is better: apple cider or a pumpkin spice latte? Well, both are great for the season, have a lot of flavors, and do a fantastic job of warming you up. Apple cider, however, is a little healthier as there is less added flavoring and sweeteners, but that doesn’t mean you should stay away from pumpkin spice lattes this season!

Lots of Oats

For most people, breakfast is the time of the day when they have something cold such as cereal or even a smoothie. These are still great options, but you may want to try something warm to help kickstart your day, and the best option is oats. Whether you’re eating oatmeal or a similar porridge, this warm breakfast will start your day off right.

Start eating some of these winter foods this year before they’re gone! Much of this food is both incredibly delicious and good for you! While you may not want to eat these foods every day, you can incorporate them here and there to help spice up meals and get your taste buds ready for the winter.
