When I was young, my dad was a shift worker and had a lot of the graveyard shift. Some very smart fundraising kids used to wait outside the paper mill he worked at, selling boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts at shift change. Pretty hard to say no to when you’re exhausted, hungry, and know it will put a smile on your kids faces when they wake up!
This led to Krispy Kreme glazed donuts being a staple of my childhood. But, even though we loved them, a dozen is a few too many donuts. We couldn’t get through all of them on the first day.
Day old donuts are a little stale. But throwing away donuts is a wasteful sin! What to do?
I’ll tell ya what to do: waffle ’em. Waffle those donuts!
Putting a day old (or two!) donut in the waffle maker gives its delicious sugary self a whole new life!
Instead of getting the stale bread texture, you now have a warm, delicious, glazed waffle in front of you. And it only takes a few minutes!.
Damn, what a kick-ass recipe.
Want to get a little creative? The toppings are the place to do it. I went simple with some maple syrup and whipped cream. You could throw in some sprinkles, chocolate sauce, caramel or anything else your heart desires.

Instructions
- Place a leftover glazed donut into a preheated waffle maker.
- Close lid and cook about 2 minutes.
- Lift lid and gently remove with a spatula.
- Enjoy one at a time or stack, then pour maple syrup and top with whipped cream.
- Eat immediately.
